Subject: Kanalog DAC
Hello,

I am now ready to try and get some motion out of the Yaskawa Legends via Kflop+Kanalog.

They wired it in a non-conventional way that is 6 leads per axis starting from channel 0.

Example:

A+ == CHA_DIFFPLUS_0 (pin 0)
A- == CHA_DIFFMINUS_0 (pin 1)
B+ == CHB_DIFFPLUS_0 (pin 2)
B- == CHB_DIFFMINUS_0 (pin 3)
C/Z/I+ == CHA_DIFFPLUS_1 (pin 4)
C/Z/I- == CHA_DIFFMINUS_1 (pin 5)

Can this be done without lots of effort, or should I request it to be wire as specified in you documentation?

Thanks,
Brad

Hi Brad

That will work for the first axis (but be a bit confusing). The critical thing is that AB connect to AB. So for your next axis you must skip over the unused B. Then your first encoder channel will be 0.  And the next 2.

Thanks Tom,

We moved to A's and B's and all is well.

Next question is if somebody can point me to the right resource for configuring a kflop to connect to a modbus slave.

Hi Brad,

Sorry we don't have that.

There are some GPL Modbus stacks out there. It should be possible to port one to KFlop. It would be a handy thing to have, as Modbus is a common interface for VFDs, some pendants, handy for control panels, etc.
